Dear readers: The Historic Cuban Political Prison and the Prisoner’s House, carried out last Sunday, April 3, an act for the date in which the Cuban Political Prisoner is remembered, which is commemorated on April 5, in honor of José Julián Martí Pérez-Apóstol de Cuba- remembering that that was the day he was taken to prison at 17 years of age.

The act was very entertaining and attended by countless former political prisoners of Cuban exile, this being chaired by Luis G. Infante, President of the emblematic organization.

The master of ceremonies was Ángel Pardo, his son Ángel Enrique Pardo, an outstanding violinist, interpreted the hymns of the United States and the Republic of Cuba, with the religious invocation in charge of Mrs. Lidia Martínez. Luis G. Infante spoke in reference to Cuba and its Political Prison; Felipe Alonso made a roll call of all the deceased former prisoners, and Ángel Pardo asked for a minute of silence in memory of him.

As guests on the rostrum, the President of the Cuban Municipalities in Exile, Mrs. Elia Kassem, spoke a few words. In addition, Mr. José Suárez, Chief of Staff of Commissioner Joe Carollo, also spoke.

Los Pinos Nuevos- Keide Cabrera and Eliecer Márquez Duani, “El Funki”, one of the authors of the song “Patria y Vida”, also made use of the platform and former political prisoner Jorge Luis García Pérez García “Antúnez” offered some very emotional words and the former prisoner Enrique “Kiko” Costa, concluded the act, with a document from the Political Presidio, followed by a group of former political prisoners, who deposited a floral offering at the Monument erected to the Cuban Political Presidio.

During the act, I had the honor of representing the National College of Journalists of Cuba in Exile, at the request of Dean Mr. Salvador Romaní Orúe, who was unable to attend. In addition, I represented the former political prisoner José Arenal, Director of the Community Newspaper ¡YA!, and at the same time, I made an oral intervention through the “La Diva” Channel of the South Press Newspaper, directed by Ángel Cristóbal and Felicia Jiménez, who also covered as Press the emotional act.

I want to highlight the extraordinary work carried out before the entire event, by the influencer and reporter Susy Taylor, “La Diva”, through the social networks offered by the internet.
