Doral, FL – On October 12th, Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and the City Council inaugurated the City’s first Cultural Arts Center with a ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling ceremony. This great milestone was celebrated with the community, alongside project contractor, KVC Constructors, Inc., architect, Bermello Ajamil & Partners, and Codina Partners.
“The Doral Cultural Arts Center will be the first of its kind in the Northwest region of Miami-Dade County,” said Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez. “This state-of-the-art facility was made possible thanks to the Doral residents that voted to approve the Parks Bond and invest in their recreational spaces. It will be the catalyst for more cultural arts opportunities in the community.”
The community enjoyed interactive workshops, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The grand opening also unveiled its first photography exhibit in collaboration with the Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM), featuring images of the Manolo Valdes Legacy public art exhibit by renowned photographer Miquel Salom, and sculptural wearable art pieces by Celia Ledon.
“With each new addition, Doral is growing more and more influential in South Florida,” said Armando Codina, executive chairman of Codina Partners. “The Doral Cultural Arts Center will help draw many more cultural activities, such as the Nutcracker In The Park and other popular events that have already made their appearances in Doral. This center is an exciting step forward, and ushers in a beautiful new era for the City—one that officially makes it a home for the arts.”
“Every world-class City has culture at its core,” said Ana-Marie Codina Barlick, CEO of Codina Partners, the developers of Downtown Doral. “It was always part of our vision for Doral to have a space that would lead it to be embraced as a forward-thinking, cultural center—a place that would enrich the lives of the City’s residents and draw ever more arts, cultural activities, and events to this diverse and thriving City.”
The highly anticipated facility is located adjacent to the City of Doral Government Center. At approximately 14,000 square feet, the Doral Cultural Arts Center will be the hub of cultural and performing arts in the City, with a large art gallery space, a multi-purpose room, outdoor courtyards/garden spaces, and a rooftop plaza. This project is part of the Doral Parks Bond projects, approved by Doral voters. Visit our website for details on this and all Parks Bond projects.
