On February 24, 2023, the 60th anniversary of the constitution of the Federation of Cuban Municipalities in Exile was fulfilled; however, the celebration of this date took place last Saturday, July 29, at the House of Municipalities, in Miami, Florida.
The emotional ceremony had the participation of the municipalities that were present six decades ago and that are still active in exile working: Artemisa, Mariel, Güines, Santa María del Rosario, San José de las Lajas, Placetas and Sancti Spiritus, to whom several recognition plaques were awarded for their work.
Dr Manuel Alzugaray, current president of Municipalities of Cuba in Exile, expressed: “It has been tremendous, after so many years, to keep the ideals of freedom and democracy alive, high and present in all the generations that have been born in exile or those who were born under the communist regime, without knowing freedom and independence”.
