This cloudy morning, Commissioner Roberto J. Gonzalez hosted an unveiling ceremony for a new West Kendall landmark and presented a proclamation to DJ EFN and Crazy Hood Productions, hip-hop pioneers, and West Kendall entrepreneurs.

The ceremony was performed at SW 120th Street and 137th Ave., Miami, FL 33186, in historical Pedro Pan Park. The newly constructed sign, sponsored by Commissioner Gonzalez, will welcome residents and visitors to West Kendall.

During the unveiling ceremony, Commissioner Gonzalez also recognized the career contributions of DJ EFN, a notable record label executive, radio host, and podcaster renowned for his support of global artists. DJ EFN began his entertainment endeavors in Miami-Dade County in the early 1990s.

He was heard on the airwaves of the University of Miami’s student-run radio station, WVUM-FM. As he rose in influence within the hip-hop and entertainment industry, DJ EFN established his own production company and clothing store, both of which were started in West Kendall.

For three decades, Crazy Hood Productions’ talent and contributions to entertainment have landed them partnerships with legendary hip-hop artists and iconic athletes. Their pioneering work to elevate the recognition of South Florida artists and bring top-tier talent to Miami-Dade County continues.

DJ EFN has been named to the Hollywood Reporter’s Most Powerful People in Podcasting and was awarded by Black Entertainment Television (BET) for his widely popular podcast platform.
DJ EFN is an undergraduate of Miami Sunset Senior High School and Miami-Dade College.

Commissioner Gonzalez not only presented DJ EFN with a proclamation but gave him, for the first time in District 11 a copy of the West Kendall´s Key for the positive impact he has made in West Kendall and the global success he has achieved.

Al expresarle al Comisionado que la comunidad necesita involucrarse más con las autoridades elegidas para representarla, éste comentó:

Commissionado Roberto J Gonzalez: Sabes qué, ese es el problema que tenemos no solo en nuestra comunidad sino en todo el país. El problema es que la gente piensa que vivimos en una democracia, no vivimos en democracia vivimos en una república constitucional, pero lo que tiene que entender todo el pueblo, todos los residentes, es que la república constitucional no puede funcionar si el pueblo, los residentes, la gente de Miami-Dade County no está involucrada en el proceso de gobernar.

Cuando uno se involucra, habla con la gente que ustedes eligen para representarlos; las leyes que ustedes necesitan para que sus vidas sea mejor van a pasar. ¡Involúcrense en el proceso! Y les puedo decir que yo, Roberto Gonzalez, como comisionado de Miami-Dade County, comisionado de West Kendall, el Distrito 11, todas las semanas salgo al pueblo, toco puertas, hablo con todos los residentes de Miami; para que sepan que yo estoy aquí para ustedes, para pasar las leyes, la resoluciones y las acciones que necesitan para que tengan mejor vida y el mejor distrito de todo Miami-Dade County
